Walleye, Walleyed Pike, Dore (Sander vitreus)

Walleye is a freshwater perciform fish native to most of Canada and to the northern United States. Walleyes are largely olive and gold in color and shades to white on the belly. The mouth of a walleye is large and is armed with many sharp teeth. Walleyes can grow to over 30 inches long and weigh over 20 pounds but typical catches are under 5 pounds.

Walleye are very popular with anglers across Canada and the Northern United States. They are considered very good eating and there is a commercial market for them.
